How to: laundry places in small houses

Having a spacious laundry room in your home is undoubtedly the best option. Too often, however, when we have to rent or buy a house, we have to compromise with the price and the location and with the area as well. So we end up with wonderful flat in the center of the city, which is unfortunately not that big. And taking all your clothes to the dry cleaners every week or even twice a week, is definitely not a good idea for a person with busy lifestyle, challenging job, and a desire to rest and travel and be at ease at the weekends. So you have now decided that you will have to make a little laundry place somewhere in your house.

Well, it’s not that difficult, if you really want it, you will always find a way.

In the kitchen

No matter how small your home is, it probably has a kitchen with a completely satisfying area. At first, you probably think that you have to store too many kitchen utensils and cups and glasses, plates, pans, pots, and bakery stuff. You will need some space for all the goods, too, and for appliances like the oven, the fridge and the dish-washer. However, you can still find a place 60cm wide where the washing machine will fit perfectly. Well, probably you won’t be able to find some space for the dryer as well, but you can use an indoor clothes airer which is not the best option, but is still far better than running to the dry cleaners in a wonderful Monday morning for your shirt.

In a wardrobe

There are too many wardrobes in this house and not enough space. Well, why don’t you hide the washing machine in one of them? In fact, this is really popular solution for small places. You can have the washing machine and the dryer one over another and then arrange them in a wardrobe so that they cannot be seen. And thus you can situate them in every room. Your house has, for instance, a really huge bedroom. Ok, put the wardrobe with the appliances in it there and no one will ever understand. This solution brings freedom. Today, your home has to be convenient and that is one of the best ways.

Behind curtains

The whole wardrobe idea is unique, but you need more money, because you not only have to buy the both appliances, but you have to spend money for buying a wardrobe, transporting it and, if you cannot do it by yourself, for assembling it as well. So there is one last solution that is thriftier. You can choose a place in your home and put the washing machine there and then you can simply chose a shelf that suits perfectly, put it over the appliance and put some curtains. The laundry place will remain hidden and the money in your bank account as well. Everyone is happy and satisfied in this case.

Fall cleaning is the new spring cleaning

OK, you got used to the tedious end of tenancy cleaning which comes with every end of the rent agreement and move out, you even got used to the spring cleaning that has to be done absolutely every year. Yeah, you started preparing yourself for it since Christmas and because of the great enthusiasm of the upcoming sunny, warm and optimistic season, you somehow accepted the spring cleaning as well. But recently more and more people are trying to convince you that performing this cleaning only is absolutely not enough and that you have to take care of your home more frequently and the fall cleaning became the new trend. At first you were a lot skeptical, but then you realized that this whole thing could be meaningful somehow, and because you want to be a good person who pays attention to the home maintenance, you are now all set to perform the fall cleaning.

Well, it’s nothing that hard. You can follow the steps or you can hire professionals cleaners to do the job for you.

In the spring they are more than dirty because of the rain and the snow and the whole unpleasant weather condition situation. Now, however, they need only some refreshment. So you need nothing more than water, a wet clout and a microfiber cloth. The detergent will help you and will make them look even better, but it’s not mandatory for this season’s clean-up.

If you live in a rented property, cleaning the walls not only once a year is maybe the best idea. Because this kind of spots – the ones that are on the walls – must be cleaned as soon as possible. And if there are some fingerprints from your kid’s birthday in august, and you do not clean them till spring, you most probably won’t be able to clean them at all.

One of the main goals of this cleaning is also the preparation for the upcoming winter. And as the winter is the season for cuddling, staying at home, laying on the sofa with a blanket and a book, you better wash all the textiles. This means pillows, blankets, mattress covers, sheets and so on. Do it now and you will be more than grateful in the first cold day when you think only about coming at home and slipping into bed.

We all have that carpeted floor we adore. And in the summer we don’t really spend that much time at home, because we got to work, we go on a holiday and when we end up at home, we decide that we better go on a picnic in the park, or hiking, or shopping, or simply in the backyard relishing the sun. In the winter, however, we spend most of our time in the living room. So we better vacuum-clean it or even hire one of the best London’s professional cleaners to do it instead of us, because the deep carpet cleaning is one of the most crucial preparations for the winter.

Why are you vacuum-cleaning wrong

There are some precious cleaning tools, I would be dead if I couldn’t use and the vacuum-cleaner is on the top of this list together with the microfiber cloth and the holy mop. And right, they are all purpose and easy to use, efficient and accessible. You don’t need to spend your entire salary to buy one and you don’t need to spend your entire Saturday then to clean with it. So it’s all right. You love them. In fact, everybody loves them, because they are amazing and just awesome.

But how would you react if I tell you that you are simply not using the vacuum-cleaner right, you have been doing it wrong this whole time and thus the results were somehow satisfying, but not the best ones possible at all.

They were completely enough for the mediocre people, but don’t you strive for greatness and perfection? Hell, you should always want more in your life, and this is valid for the cleaning as well. Don’t be somewhere in the middle, avoid these stupid little mistakes next time, and be flawless.   Read More

Five easy steps for cleaning your bedroom

They say your bedroom is your place – somewhere to relax, to forget all your everyday problems. Going back from work you think about your cozy bed and the idea of sharing it with a beloved one. But what happens when this heavenly place needs refreshment. It’s too soon for the move out cleaning, but you know you have to do something; you cannot just stay and stare. So the great postponement starts and you tell yourself that there’s nothing urgent until the day comes, when there is too much dust on the frame for the photo to be seen.

1. Change the bed sheets

The bed is obviously the most essential part of this room. So start by taking care of it. Changing the bed sheets is something we often underestimate, but the truth is that the feeling of taking a nap in the refreshed bed is absolutely priceless.

2. Clean the windows

That’s probably the most unpleasant part of cleaning the room. The windows are often way too high and we need a chair or a ladder so as to reach them. So find something steady and start by washing the windows with a simple wet clout. Thus when you start using some kind of glass cleaner it would be much easier and you will be amazed by the perfect result.

3. Wash the curtains and clean the window blinds

Now so as to finish with the windows you have to take care of the curtains and/or the window blinds. Take off the curtains and put them in the washing machine. If you don’t have one, make sure that you will find a laundry nearby and won’t have to take them 2 miles away. Cleaning the window blinds is a little bit easier.

You will need only a wet clout to take all the dust away and for a better result you can use the glass cleaner again.

4. Vacuum-cleaner

The moment we all thank the nice person who invented this divine device comes. With the vacuum-cleaner we can clean the whole room in a small amount of time. So ignore the annoying noise and get started. No matter if there is a carpet or the floor is inlaid, there is nothing the vacuum-cleaner cannot cope with /except for some stains that need special care and should be removed during the post tenancy cleaning/.

5. Clean out the dust

Cleaning the dust is the last but the most time-consuming part of the whole bedroom cleaning. First thing you have to do is to find the right cleaning tools. A wet clout could be enough but if you strive for perfection you better find a detergent. There are some for furniture polish that can make everything shine. Now take all your stuff from the shelves and put them on the table or the desk. Clean them first and then start with the furniture. When you are ready you can even rearrange your photos, souvenirs, candles, etc. and make your bedroom look a lot different.

Cleaning after builders can be a true nightmare

I am currently having major renovations done to my home and at the moment it looks like a war zone with builders coming in and out and each one renovating a different area. I am very happy that all the teams are working together as this means that my home will be ready quickly. What I am worried about however is that all that dust and dirt is building up and I can’t keep up on top of it. I shared my thoughts and concerns with a friend of mine over lunch the other day and she had a brilliant idea.

She advised me to look into hiring professional cleaners who could come at the end of every day and clean after the builders. You can check them out here.

I have never used the services of cleaning agencies but I have decided to give it a go.

Home renovations and building improvements always cause the buildup of dirt and dust.

Most commonly you will find traces of paint everywhere and concrete dust stuck to your furniture or carpets. That is why it is imperative to get help. I started my research by checking out the recommended by my friend cleaning agency and comparing it to two others that I have found through the search engines. I compared prices, services and recommendations, which took me approximately one hour. The company I chose won me over by offering brilliant services at great prices and they also had 100% positive feedback, which says a lot about their customer service and cleaning abilities.

On the day of the clean, the cleaners arrived just on time and got on with their job straight away.

My builders have managed to leave a pretty big mess so the cleaners were facing a real challenge. In order to make sure every area is spotless, they had an after builders cleaning check list that they used as they were cleaning. The checklist included the cleaning of all windows and window frames on the inside, the careful cleaning of all switches, sockets and skirting boards, all rooms in the house including the kitchen plus the cleaning of the cupboards and wardrobes on the inside and the outside. Even though I didn’t have any work done in the bathroom, the cleaners advised me that all that dust is spreading everywhere so they carefully cleaned and sanitized the bathroom and the toilet. All floors in the rooms were hovered in order to remove dust. Deep carpet cleaning and upholstery cleaning was not included in the after builders cleaning however I decided to pay extra and get that done as well. I was advised to opt for that service once per week until the builders are finished.

I was very pleased with the result. My home was nice and clean and it smelled extremely fresh as if no builders have ever entered it. I was very happy with the choice I have made and I will strongly recommend the team to all my friends. The quote I received was based on my property needs and I have to say that the after builders cleaning was more than worth it. Now I can rest assured that my family and my pets are safe in this crazy building environment.

How to keep the carpet in tip top condition

I have recently decided to install a carpet throughout my entire apartment. I love the warm feeling a carpet gives and that is what lead me to my decision. I chose a creamy colored one with a shaggy finish for my bedroom and a creamy colored plain one for the rest of the apartment. In order to show off my new carpet, I threw a party for my closest friends and my family. Everybody loved the finished look of my floors and the warmth the carpet has brought to my home. We partied until the early hours of the morning and when everybody left, I was just glad to rest and go to bed.

When I got up however I was shocked – my brand new carpet looked like it had survived a war.
